Rachael Haynes extends her contract with WBBL side Sydney Thunder

Stand-in Australia captain Rachael Haynes, on Thursday, extended her contract with WBBL side Sydney Thunder for two years. The left arm Australian cricketer confirmed that she will remain with the Sydney Thunder for another two seasons.

Talking about her decision of inking a new deal with the team, Haynes said, “I enjoy being part of the club and the success we’ve had so the opportunity to be part of the squad again with this playing group is really exciting.” She will lead Australian cricket team in the upcoming seven-match Ashes which is about to start from October 22 this year.

Two weeks ago, Australian skipper Meg Lanning was ruled out of Australia’s women’s cricket team due to shoulder injury. Haynes was appointed as a new captain of Aussies’ team which is scheduled to take on England in Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes in the month of October. Haynes will return to international cricket after three and a half years.
